Media Awards

The Australian Arabic Council (AAC) annual Media Award is a national event aims to recognise and reward excellence in Australian journalism, specifically relating to Arabic issues.

Now into its tenth year, judges reward the article that most clearly breaks down entrenched stereotypes of Arabic culture, and recognises the significance and role of the media in perpetuating as well as reversing these cultural stereotypes, with a return flight to the Arab World for the winning journalist.

Last year’s presentation took place on the 26th of November 2004 in the Basement Theatre of The University of Melbourne’s Asialink Centre. The audience was treated to a keynote presentation by ABC radio presenter Jon Faine, as well as entertainment from the Anti Racism Action Band.

The 2004 AAC Media Award was proudly sponsored by Toyota, the Australian Multicultural Foundation, Gulf Air, the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc, the Victorian Multicultural Commission and supported by the University of Melbourne.
